Our church has a long and cherished history with the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home. The Children’s Home was founded in 1908 by the Methodists of Florida. The First United Methodist Church of Plant City has been there every step of the way.

What began as the Florida Methodist Orphanage has grown into a diverse ministry meeting the needs of children and families from across the state of Florida. The main campus is located in Enterprise, Florida. A second campus (The Madison Youth Ranch) is located outside of Madison, Florida. In additional to residential care, the Children’s Home offers Independent Living services, a Foster Care ministry with three locations around Florida, an on campus Early Childhood Education Center and other services for children families in the local community. One of the Foster Care offices is located in our own Wesley Centre.

Over the years our church and its members have made a profound impact on the ministry of the Children’s Home. Judge James D. Bruton, Jr. provided the funds out of his estate to build the Bruton Counseling Center on the Enterprise campus. Our beloved Maida Pou served on the Board of Trustees. She and her family built three houseparent retreats and the RV campground on the Enterprise campus. She also helped fund the “In As Much” Early Childhood Education Center on the main campus. Our own Bonnie Bullard also served on the Board of Trustees. Bonnie was instrumental in the founding of Aldersgate Academy, the on campus school serving many of the children and youth on the Enterprise campus. Frank Bullard is currently our Local Church Representative to the Children’s Home. He is willing to answer any questions you might have about the ministry of the Children’s Home.

Thank you for continuing to give towards the Fifth Sunday Offering to help provide for this important ministry and outreach of our church.

Checks made out to the church should indicate “Children’s Home” in the memo. Checks made out to the Children’s Home should be mailed to:
