A Word from Pastor Dennis – May 28, 2020

A furious squall came up Mark 4:37

I have a painting by Rembrandt on my wall called "The storm on the Sea of Galilee." Rembrandt was so impressed by the the confidence of Jesus as He slept in the back of the boat, that he painted himself into the picture.

We Floridians are well accustomed to stormy weather and we find ourselves even now preparing for yet another hurricane season. But, we face so much more in the way of the storms of life than we are prepared to handle on our own.

When the apostles panicked for fear of being capsized, they woke Jesus in the back of the boat who immediately calmed the sea. We too must practice our faith and turn to Him when things seem hopeless. That is, in its simplest form, how faith works.

There is a wonderful Gospel song called "He was there all the time" which describes faith in more contemporary terms. The song writer lived a life of confidence that he had control of his world until one day it all fell apart. He turned to God for help. Yes, he realized God was waiting patiently for his request and God answered.

God will do the same for us today in spite of all obstacles and challenges.
