A Word from Pastor Stephen – May 2, 2020

“But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.” (1 Corinthians 16:8-9 NRSV)

After all of this is over and society has opened back up and we can gather for worship again, it will be a wonderful time. However, we all know it will be quite some time before things return to normal. As a church we might not want things to return to normal. This pandemic may create new opportunities for us to be the church to our community and to those who need to hear the good news. Some of our online worship services have had over 800 views. People we don’t know are looking to our church.

I believe a “wide door for effective work” will be open to us as a church. I am convinced people will be looking for something that will give them a sure foundation. What better foundation can we give someone, but the love of Jesus made real through the cross and resurrection. We must be prepared to reach out with the message of Jesus. We must be ready to be the hands and feet of Jesus in new ways.

Remember what Jesus told his disciples? ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’” (Matt. 9:37-38) Be ready and willing to be a worker in the field. May the harvest be plentiful. Amen.
