A Word from Pastor Stephen – May 11, 2020

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20 ESV)

Did you know that you are an ambassador? The definition of an ambassador is “an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country.” If we claim the name of Jesus, then we are His official representative in this world. We are sent by Jesus into a hostile and foreign world to proclaim the good news.

An ambassador does not represent his/her own interests, but the interest of the one accredited them and sent them. So the question we need to ask ourselves is what are the interest and values and priorities of the one we represent. We must always remember that we are the hands and feet of Jesus in this world. Paul wrote to the Corinthians that God is “making his appeal through us”. Paul tells us our first duty is to be reconciled to God. We must repent and be saved. We are to be on the same page with Jesus so that we can represent Him in the world.

Jesus himself was very clear about what he wants us to do. We are to proclaim good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, and freedom to those who are oppressed. (Luke 4:18-19). Jesus wants us to reach out and seek the lost and to serve those who are hungry and thirsty and weary. How are you doing your job as an ambassador of Jesus Christ in this world? Amen.
