A Word from Pastor Dennis– June 3, 2020

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence; Two roads diverged in a wood, and I---- I took the one less traveled by, And that made all the difference

This is the closing phrase of Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken." We live in a world of options, so many options that sometimes our decisions seem no more meaningful than the flip of a coin. Our tendency today leans more toward just following the crowd or going with the flow. We become so accustomed to or comfortable with the "norm" or with the direction the crowd goes that we just settle for it.

In the early days of our faith when Jesus came into the world, a fork in the road of faith appeared. That fork exists today as we face daily the conflicts which are before us. We tend to follow the same path and make the same decisions which give us the same problems time and again.

Robert Frost says in his poem, "I took the one less traveled by, and that made all the difference." Jesus waits patiently for us to sort through all of the conflicting opinions of this world and turn to Him for He is truly "The road less traveled" in our world today.
